The Elementals Part 5

''Skin wearer?''

Chrysalla cocked her head in amusement and stared at her bloodstained hands.

''Yes my dear, you are my pet skin wearer. You have done horrible things in the past but I
shall forgive your for I am a magnanimous God.''

Chrysalla flapped her wings and circled the glowing artificer. She was still uncertain about
the intention of this entity.

''Why did you make me do this? They were just beetles.''

The artificer growled. He was like an untamed animal behind the grandeur of his physical
embodiment.

''They were beetles who were craving for your entrails. They were only following my orders but surely you cannot forgive a bunch of numskulls who lacked the willpower to craft their own opinions. Such creatures are unworthy to live in my world, our world.''

The Artificer spoke like a veteran orator, his every word infused with persuasive guile.

The corrupt fairy shook her head, the demonic influence from the blood-lust was overcoming
her own volition. The Artificer knew this and he was pleased.

''Come child, let us begin your journey for a new sense of purpose. You must put down everything that reminds you of those fallen beetles. Every life form which is incapable of
developing a resolve should be extracted from this world and pulverized.''

Chrysalla could detect the villainous nature of her companion but she was growing weak and powerless to defy him. There were flashbacks of her mission in her head, of the quest for a forward camp, of pixies, of Zion but they were quickly fading. Her strength too, was starting to leave her small body.

''I cannot think straight. I feel like I am about to faint. What is going on? What is wrong with me? I am afraid...''

Chrysalla wiped her forehead with the back of her dainty hand and removed the stifling
''beetle mask'' from her face. She saw the sun and it was moving violently, the whole world around her was shaking and twinkling, she felt that she was going mad. Then, she fainted and fell from midair, into the arms of the artificer.

''You are weak but soon, you will grow to accept your new body. I will program you to be greater than any of those traitors who thought they were better than me. They will rue the day that they were created. I am the Artificer and my will is absolute.''

The Artificer levitated with Chrysalla in his arms. He rose above some clouds and caught an aerial glimpse of the desert below him. He could see that the devious fairies were separated into two camps. He planned his strike.

''Zion must be dealt with last, just so that she witnesses the destruction of her sisters.''

The malicious God held the small fairy with one hand and whistled with the other. From the sky, Zargos appeared and landed on the sandy desert like a dexterous cat.

''Attack the band of fairies away from Zion. Leave none alive.''

Zargos, the monstrous hound gave off a preternatural bark in rage, sounding like the engine of a steam train more than an organic animal.

''But you will need to be punished for your lack of vigilance. That way, you shall learn.''

The Artificer performed a gesture with his unburdened arm, resembling a choke hold. One of the seven eyes of the demonic dog started to bleed and loosen from its socket. The eye putrefied and fell off like a overly ripened fruit from a tree.

Zargos whined and leapt about in excruciating pain as blood leaked from his empty socket. The dog soon regathered itself and let out a stronger howl, one portending that the hunt had begun. This beast thrived on pain, its head was covered in a host of clefts, suggesting that it was once a creature with at least a thousand eyes. The bloodthirsty hound bent its hind legs and shot itself into the distance.

The Artificer smiled, hugged the fairy closer to his broad chest and lifted himself into the upper levels of his realm.
